Best Western International, Inc. owns the Best Western Hotels & Resorts brand, which it licenses to over 4,500 hotels worldwide. The franchise, with its corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, includes more than 2,000 hotels in North America. The brand was founded by M.K. Guertin in 1946. As of May 2019, David Kong is the president and CEO of Best Western and Dorothy Dowling is the chief marketing officer. In 1964, Canadian hotel owners joined the system. Best Western then expanded to Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand in 1976. In 2002, Best Western International launched Best Western Premier in Europe and Asia. (The other hotels in the chain were known as Best Western.) In 2011, the chain's branding system-wide changed to a three-tiered system: Best Western, Best Western Plus, and Best Western Premier.

Cher shared her experience in this review: "Beware!! Went to Best Western reservation website and called the reservation number. Where the fellow I spoke with made no mention he was quoting in US$. and said free cancellation on the phone. It wasn't until I got the confirm from getaroom.com I saw this Price was US$ and no cancellation refund. I'm calling from Canada, booking a room in Canada. Why would I pay in US$? BW has gone to **. So much for loyalty and VIP customers. Nothing but run around from Best Western, they can't help me. Getaroom offered me $12. Will never use either of these companies again."

"I was the only one in the company that worked all hours for months plus my steady night audit days . My manger was mean , ungrateful,unappreciative,and highly dishonest . Upon my promotion to front desk i was promised set hours and pay ,but after a couple weeks of my pay being messed up and my hours on my check begin short i brought it to her attention and she said she would address it with the owner . Returning to me with my answers she said the owner did not think i deserved any higher pay and that i would be staying at minimum wage . I absolutely loved my job there and would prob still be there to this day if it was not for the management that was working there . She fired me because i finally got upset because i was working day in and day out and was getting shorted on my pay for months almost a yr . I would love to work for this establishment again under different management to experience the good values that i missed out in . I did Check In and "Outs, Cash Drops, Night Audit, Reservations, Pool Maintenance,ect."

"Expected to do laundry as a front desk agent which wouldnt be so bad if everyone did their share scheduled 8 to 12 hours a week and was lied to about why 2 full time (seasonal positions) were given to management's relatives bad management and lack of resolution for issues customer should always be right this place doesn't care Never was given a full reliable schedule scheduled 8 to 12 hours for 3 or 4 days a week and called in as needed no one can survive in a inconsistent schedule with varying days n not enough hours plus management plays favoritesNice peopleOn call hours"

I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. If you like going to work , work hard, and not be appreciated at all , this is the place for you."

"Everything started out great and continued for the first year. And then the general manager got unhappy. She was a micro manager and if you stood your ground or defended yourself she made things very hard on you. She nit picked her best producers and hardest workers and defended the bad apples. She lost at least 10 great employees because of this attitude. Plenty of over timeMicro managed and rules changed weekly"
